reported a silver in color, GMC pickup truck was driving recklessly down the roadway and

doing burnout's in the intersection of Main Street and Railroad Street. Upon Troopers

arrival to the area, witnesses pointed to a silver GMC truck bearing Vermont

Registration 190A249 parked on the corner of Main Street and North Ave. Troopers

spoke with the operator, who was identified as Michael Riendeau. Investigation revealed

Riendeau was intoxicated and was subsequently arrested for suspicion of DUI and

Careless and Negligent Operation.

On 06/27/2017, at approximately 1907 hours, VT State Police from the Middlesex Barracks responded to a crash on Main St. (VT Route 100) in the town of Waitsfield. Investigation determined that the vehicle driven by Jeffrey Burnett left the roadway and crashed into a parked car at Haps Service Station. Burnett suffered non-life threatening injuries and was transported to CVMC. Further investigation led to Burnett's arrest for suspicion of DUI. He is scheduled to appear in Washington Superior Court - Criminal Division on August 10th, 2017.  The crash investigation is ongoing.

Pope, age 22 of Rutland, Vermont.  During the investigation into the crash, Pope displayed several indicators of impairment.  Pope was screened for DUI and subsequently taken into custody and transported to the State Police Barracks in Rutland for processing.  After processing Pope was issued a citation to appear in Rutland Superior Court, Criminal Division on July 17th to answer to the charge of DUI.

                On June 27, 2017 at approximately 1241 hours, State Police received a larceny case from Main Street in Fairfax. Complainant, Kenneth Grey (age 37), had asked a neighbor to assist in moving junk/trash out of his residence, and items turned up missing. Apparently, the neighbor hired two males by the names of Joseph Goodroe (age 25) and Timothy Loiselle (age 27) to assist. While Goodroe and Loiselle were at the residence, they entered and stole multiple items. These included a television, an infrared heater, and a power drill.

                When first confronted, the television and heater were returned, but the drill was still missing. State Police caught up with both males and the drill was located and returned to Grey. Both males were charged with larceny and ordered to appear in VT Superior Court to answer to that charge.

James Smith, operating at 2016 Ford Escape failed to yield to approaching traffic when entering the roadway as he exited a driveway resulting in a crash. Officer Fletcher sustained injuries to her right wrist. No other injuries were reported. VT State Police, Brattleboro Police, Brattleboro Fire Dept. Rescue Inc. and Al’s Towing responded and assisted at the scene.

On 06/23/17 Vermont State Police - Williston barracks was contacted by members of the Army National Guard reporting an incident of lewd conduct which occurred at the Ethan Allen Firing Range in Jericho, VT.  

 

Investigation into this incident revealed that an Army National Guard soldier who was at the facility in Jericho for training had been inappropriately touched while in formation by one of her supervisors.  This occurred while both soldiers were standing in a formation at the facility on June 22, 2017.  The alleged offender was reported to be Sgt. Jon Downing, age 33, from Hyannis Massachusetts.  Both soldiers were in the same unit.  

 

Downing was issued a Citation to appear in Chittenden Superior Court on 06/27/17 to answer the charge of Lewd and Lascivious Conduct.  The Army National Guard advised that they would be conducting their own investigation into this incident to run concurrently with the State investigation.

Westminster Barracks/ Missing Person Update

UPDATE

 

At approximately 0850 hours on 6/27/17, Mr. Brown and his dog were located near Hinkley Brook Road in Grafton.  Mr. Brown was safe and treated for minor medical issues and transported to Grace Cottage Hospital.  State Police were assisted by the State Police Search and Rescue Team, Windsor County Sheriff’s Department, New England K-9, Upper Valley Wilderness Response Team and the Grafton Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department.

SUMMARY OF INCIDENT: On 6/26/2017 at approximately 9:00 pm, Thomas Brown, wandered away from his residence in the town of Grafton, Vermont. Brown suffers from dementia and may be confused when confronted. Brown left the residence on foot with his gray Irish Wolf Hound, according to family the dog is very friendly and approachable. Brown was last seen wearing navy blue shorts, medium blue golf shirt, a blue with a single white stripe pullover sweater and tan boat shoes. The Vermont State Police have identified the person who died on Branch Brook Rd.

in Guilford on June 25, 2017 as Nickolas R. Matte, age 28, of Hindsdale, NH.

The circumstances surrounding Matte's death are under investigation.  The

SUMMARY OF INCIDENT:

On June 25, 2017 at approximately 2117 hours, the Vermont State Police in

Westminster, investigated a water related death on Broad Brook Rd. in the Town

of Guilford, VT.  The victim's name is being withheld pending notification of

his family.  The victim was identified as a 28 year-old male.  Guilford Fire and

the Brattleboro Dive Team responded to the scene and assisted with the incident.

The body is being sent to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for an

Autopsy.

SUMMARY OF INCIDENT:

On 06/23/17 Vermont State Police - Williston barracks was contacted by members of the Army National Guard reporting an incident of lewd conduct which occurred at the Ethan Allen Firing Range in Jericho, VT.  

Investigation into this incident revealed that an Army National Guard soldier who was at the facility in Jericho for training had been inappropriately touched while in formation by one of her supervisors.  This occurred while both soldiers were standing in a formation at the facility on June 22, 2017.  The alleged offender was reported to be Sgt. Jon Downing, age 33, from Hyannis Massachusetts.  Both soldiers were in the same unit.  

Downing was issued a Citation to appear in Chittenden Superior Court on 06/27/17 to answer the charge of Lewd and Lascivious Conduct.  The Army National Guard advised that they would be conducting their own investigation into this incident to run concurrently with the State investigation.

Trp. Mattuchio a motor vehicle stop was conducted at the southbound Georgia Rest Area for a speed violation. The operator, Caleb Krause (22) was traveling at

98mph in a posted 65mph zone. Krause was given a citation to appear in Franklin County Superior Court on July 24, 2017 at 1pm.

SUMMARY OF INCIDENT: On June 26, 2017, at approximately 10:30 PM, members of the Vermont State Police, responded to a residence on Vermont Route 30, in the Town of Townshend, for a report of a family fight. During the investigation, Kimberley A. Greene, 55, of Townshend, Vermont, assaulted a Trooper as Troopers’ attempted to speak to her. Greene was arrested for Assault of Protected Professional and was transported to the Vermont State Police Westminster Barracks for processing. Greene was subsequently transported to the Southern State Correctional Facility, where she was ordered to be held until sober.
